Hinge comment ideas

Comments that react to what she wrote, not to the fact that she wrote something.

Hinge is a comment app pretending to be a dating app. These lines pick up the prompt instead of complimenting it.

Hinge conversations start on a comment, and most comments are a compliment on the prompt rather than a response to it. Nice answer is a dead end because the only reply available is thanks.

Each of these picks up what she actually wrote and adds something, whether that is a light disagreement, a follow up question, or a guess she can correct. All three give her a job.

How to use these

  • Comment on the prompt you had a genuine reaction to. If none of them produced one, that is worth noticing before you like the profile.
  • Keep it to one or two sentences. The comment box is not where you make your case.
  • A guess she can correct outperforms a question she has to answer from scratch, because correcting people is easy and fun.

These are shapes, not scripts. A line that has been sent by a thousand people reads like one, and the good version of any of these has a detail in it that only applies to the person you are talking to.

Questions people ask

Should I comment on a prompt or a photo?
Whichever gave you something to say. Prompts are usually easier because she has already written words you can respond to, but a photo comment about what is happening in the shot works the same way.
Do longer comments do better on Hinge?
Not in our experience. Two sentences that respond to her specifically beat a paragraph, and the paragraph carries a whiff of effort aimed at a stranger.
What if she likes my profile without a comment?
Then you open, and her profile is right there. Treat it exactly like sending the first comment yourself.
